The importance of public auditing has grown considerably in recent years. In New Public Management efficiency and economy have become fundamental criteria for the assessment of public sector bodies both administrative agencies in the traditional sense and outsourced public services. Performance auditing has assumed an integral function reaching far beyond traditional financial audits. The Professional MBA in Public Auditing aims at embracing scientific findings of the WU and specific practical auditing experience of the Austrian Court of Audit. Preparing finance officials and auditors for the duties and challenges of public auditing is one of the key objectives of the program.

Focus/Curriculum
The Professional MBA program lasts 24 months. During the first 6 months focus is on General Management and the consecutive 18 months will be devoted to the professional specialization.
The general part is called Business Core and provides an in-depth view of state-of-the-art General Management models. During the professional component, participants take specially designed courses in Public Auditing, namely:
- Finance and accounting
- Economy of the public sector
- Auditing process
- Law
