For the first time among the top 40 MBA programs worldwide: In the current Financial Times Executive MBA ranking, the Executive MBA (Global) of the WU Executive Academy has achieved an excellent overall result, moving up another three places to number 38. Among all MBA programs in the EU, the Executive MBA (Global) is ranked among the top 15, and among the top 5 in the German-speaking world (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Also, it has again obtained top scores in several categories of the ranking.

The WU Executive Academy and the Federal Association of German Academies of Business Administration and Public Management (VWA) have renewed and intensified their cooperation: VWA graduates will be eligible not only to enroll in Executive MBA programs (EMBA), but also to apply for admission to the Professional MBA (PMBA) offering a choice of 10 specializations, as well as the Master of Business Law (MBL).

On 7 November, more than 70 national and international MBA alumni of the WU Executive Academy took up the invitation to attend the "Christmas@Blue Monday" annual alumni celebration at Radisson Blu Style Hotel in the heart of Vienna. Besides celebrating and networking, supporting a charitable cause was a top priority of the event. Numerous prizes donated by cooperation partners and WU Executive Club alumni were raffled off for CES Waldorf, a social project initiated by Helmut von Loebell to support underprivileged children in Bogotá/Colombia.

On the 6th of October 2011, the future Professional MBA alumni were fortunate to welcome as guest speaker for their graduation ceremony Peter Malanik, chief operations officer (COO) and member of the board at Austrian Airlines AG (AUA). In his speech, Malanik underlined the importance of an MBA for today’s managers, and pointed out the key success factors that have proven crucial throughout his career and now at AUA, Austria’s renowned airline.

Professor Bodo B. Schlegelmilch, Dean of the WU Executive Academy and Chair of the International Marketing Management Institute at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna), has been awarded an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Business Administration from Thammasat University, Bangkok, Thailand. The Degree was conferred to him by Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn on August 10, 2011 in Bangkok.
